RCA Tube Caddy (1950s)

Folks, this is a super collectible museum-grade 1950s RCA tube treasure box… and it’s very special!

Back in 1920s and early 1930s; RCA distributed the WORLD’s very first commercial theremin. These instruments featured RCA TUBES.

This rare RCA Hamilton company cabby is stacked with vintage tubes, hand-written technician service notes from the mid-20th century & MORE; this is a true time capsule!

Not only is this tube caddy in beautiful surviving shape for the early-1950s, but it was specifically made for those RCA technicians during who worked during the time companies were transitioning from radio to TV tubes. Making this artifact not just unique; but an extremely important piece of TV & Radio history!

The specific caddy featured here was only produced from 1950-1952. Features a plastic/Bakelite handle, painted on “RCA Picture Tubes for Premium Performance” on the inside + “We Use RCA Tubes” on the exterior.

Even left over tools a technician might have used servicing radios and TVs back in the mid-20th century!

A 35mm film slide showing a futuristic scene with a man in a suit reaching out to a humanoid robot head, with swirling green, purple, and yellow background patterns.

A Lucky Find!

In early 2025, I found this treasure piece of theremin film history for sale on eBay. I had to grab it and when I came in the mail I was amazed how vibrant the 35mm film looked under bright light!

I would assume it was used for promoting the Theremin: An Electronic Odyssey documentary in the mid-1990s.
